It's Not For Everyone....

When I was younger I was never the girl who wanted to be married and live in a house with a picket fence and a dog. I don't even recall ever thinking about marriage.

As I got older, I remember deciding to make a pact with a guy. We said if neither one of us wasn't married by a certain age then we would marry each other. I knew at the time of this agreement that it probably wasn't going to happen that way because you can't make yourself love someone (plus we were partial tipsy).

I've seen a handful of marriages fail and the marriages that I've seen last were very few. I don't know why most of the marriages out there fail, but I can only imagine the type of work it takes to make it work. Most of the people I know who are in a mediocre marriage, usually tells everyone around them to NOT get married because things tend to change once you're married.

I have never been married so I don't know how bad it gets, but recently I saw first hand between a guy friend of mine and his wife just how crazy things get. Arguing in public was not cool, but that was just the consequences of an unhappy couple.

I have been an advocate of being a "life partner" to someone and not necessarily jumping the broom. Most people don't understand my logic, but it's pretty simple. I don't feel that I need to get married in order to continue my life and love with someone. I think it's pointless to spend thousands of dollars for about 6hrs. It doesn't make sense....$25,000 being spent on 6 hours, nah I'll pass. I'll rather take that money and put it to good use.

Are any of you married? How do you feel about marriage?
