No First Date....?!

This past weekend, I helped a friend celebrate a milestone birthday. It was a nice gathering which took place at her house which was nicely decorated and dimly lit with candles. To say the least the atmosphere was very grown and sexy.

There were some couples there and some single people as well. I attended the event by myself but I knew several people who were in attendance. As I sat off to the side sipping my drink, a female that I knew through other events decided to introduce me to her husband and his friend. We all shook hands and as her husband's friend went to shake my hand and introduce himself, her husband was mouthing to me "he likes you". I laughed at him because his level of discreteness was at zero.

It didn't take long for him to realize he was being put on blast. He and I continued to talk and I tried to include my friend and her husband as much as possible. After a few minutes I got up to refresh my drink and walk around and talk to other friends. When I went back to my seat, he was still standing there. We spoke some more and enjoyed the music.

As the night winded down I knew what it would ultimately boil down to and that was he would want to exchange info. He asked me if I had ever been to Jamaica and I told him that I went there about 2 years ago. He asked what part and I told him Ocho Rios and he said he was from Montego Bay. Then an unexpected question came...he said....."I'm going there next year, you should come with me. I can show you all of the good places to visit". I looked at him and laughed because he barely knew me. I politely declined the offer and as he was leaving he extended the offer AGAIN. I respectfully declined again and he asked how were we supposed to keep in contact.

In my mind, I thought to myself..."well it's definitely not by asking me to go to another country with you after only knowing me for 2o minutes". So I just said, "if we happen to be at the same event again then I guess we'll run into each other". He smiled and left.

What ever happened to asking someone out to dinner and a movie?? Who asks someone that they barely know to go with them to another country the following year? Did he really think we would be in contact that long for that trip to even happen? Or did he think I was the typical materialistic chick who would give her left nipple to go on a free trip?

Either way, I found it quite odd. What do ya'll think?
